STEPS TO SCHOOL SUCCESS

·         Assignment Pad – available for purchase at the beginning of the school year

o   Should be used daily. 

o   At night, parents should check that all work is completed.

o   Parents should not accept excuses for work not attempted.

·         Cluster websites – accessible by going to school website at  http://www.barringtonmiddle.org/default.aspx

o   Click on cluster, then teacher to access homework, calendars, documents, etc. 

·         X2/Aspen - – accessible by going to school website.

o   Account must be set up by initially using access code mailed home before 6th grade year begins, or when new students register.

o   Contact school office in case of lost access codes.

o   Contact x2help@bpsmail.org  in case of problems logging on.

o   Parents and students are encouraged to check Aspen consistently to monitor student progress. 

·         Study Skills

o   Students should have a quiet space at home for school work.

o   Time should be scheduled daily for homework completion, taking into account other activities.

o   Students should have a supply kit at home including such items as pens, pencils, paper, markers, poster board, calculators and ruler. 

o   Students should refer to notes taken at school.

o   Students should stay organized by regularly cleaning out their backpacks, binders, lockers, etc.

·         Absence procedures

o   Students have a responsibility to check with teachers upon return after an absence to learn what they missed.

o   They need to schedule time during or after school to make up work or tests missed.
