This site is designed for you to use a as a reference to class topics and homework. I do post regularly but strongly encourage our students to wrtie down their assignments and individually strive to keep their assignments organized. Therefore, they may come home with a different assignment from what is posted due to material covered in class, reteaching etc. As a result, the assignment recorded in their planner will be most current. I will do my best to record any changes made at the end of the school day.
A short homework assignment is usually given Monday through Thursday nights. I see the purpose of homework as a practice opportunity of skills covered in the curriculum. We will have a weekly quiz and/or task on Friday. Students are welcome to bring home their Math folder to use as a study tool for each quiz or test and please encourage your student to ask for my help. I love to work with the students to assist them in their learning and am available most days, before and after school.
This quarter, you may notice a different method of reporting the assessment grades. On our quizzes, we will separate each skill and give a score for ability on each one rather than one "quiz grade". Our hope is to isolate the areas where we really need the extra explanation and/or practice and not have it masked within a "good grade". Our goal is to send our 6th graders to 7th grade with the strongest skills they can possibly gain. As a result of this, students will only repair and retake areas of weakness until confidence is gained and success achieved! As always, extra practice and repair can be done before/after school or during Ramp-Up.
Important Reminders: Quiz 3.1, Friday, Feb. 3rd on all operations with decimals and mean, median, mode, and range of a data set.
