Grade - Level Course Descriptions:
6th Grade:

In this course, students learn to touch type using a self-paced computer assisted program. 90% accuracy with a minimum speed of 20 wpm are required to meet the keyboarding standard.

Students are also introduced to the basics of Microsoft Publisher, Word "saving" on the network, and retreiving files from other areas of the network, as well accessing their bpsmail and Aspen X2 accounts.
7th Grade:
-
This course introduces students to computer fundamentals, i.e., hardware components, microprocessors, RAM, drives, ports, software, memory, networks, document storage, "saving" directories folders, and files.

They continue to review and practice keyboarding skills.

Use: Word, Publisher, Excel, PowerPoint, and FrontPage.

Students are also introduced to internet acceptable use policy, copyright laws, and receive instruction in online web-based evaluation and Internet Safety. (See I-Safe below).

All assignments will be uploaded into their Digital Portofolios that is accessible on Important Links below.
8th Grade:

Students continue to use Word, Publisher, PowerPoint, Excel, and Frontpage to review and advance their command of each program in preparation for their High School experience.

Continuation of keyboarding practice for those students who are still in need.

In FrontPage, students create more advanced web sites that include multiple, originally created pages, use of tables with the ability to set alignment, cell spacing and padding, marquee, bookmark, and other graphic enhancements. For the more advanced student, Movie Maker can be applied.

Students continue to receive instruction in online web-based evaluation, plagiarism, and copyright laws in support of academic integrity, and Internet Safety. (See I-Safe below).

Expected Outcomes for Meeting Standards in Technology

Students will have the ability to:

manipulate templates, create original designs, and group and ungroup different elements of their projects. Additionally, be able to incorporate digital photographs and graphic enhancements that may include: photo editing, clipart, borders, and backgrounds.

format which includes alignment, line spacing, bullets, headers, and footers. Be able to create tables, use WordArt and manipulate graphics and pictures on a document.
