STATE AND DISTRICT TESTING
· BMS administers the New England Common Assessment Program (NECAP) every October.
o All students take tests in Math and English Language Arts
o 8th graders also take tests in Writing in October and Science in May.
o Testing is spread over 2 weeks
o Results of Math, ELA and Writing tests are available in February.
· BMS also assesses students using tests developed by our departments.
o Math and Language Arts teachers assess skills often using formative assessments.
o Each department gives its own mid-term exams (end of 2nd quarter) and final assessments (end of 4th quarter).
· Additional testing includes the computerized assessments in Reading and Math known as MAP (“Measures of Academic Progress”).
o These are given in the Fall and Spring to all students
o Extra administrations are given to individual students as needed over the winter.
