 Workshop Description:

Welcome To:

The BMS Drama/Dance After-School Workshop!

 Dancing Robot

In the Drama section of the workshop, students work with teacher-guided activities using pantomime and improvisation. Contemporary literature and classical literature are studied as well. All of the activities help students tap into their creativity, while developing technical skills for performing. Staging and management are also introduced in this workshop.

In the dance awareness section of the workshop, students work on developing body awareness, flexibility, and rhythm. As their physical and spatial awareness and technical ability develop, students participate in more advanced dance techniques and choreography. (All to be incorporated in our musical performances).

The ultimate goal of the workshop is for students to gain an appreciation for the arts, while developing their individual talents and creativity toward self growth and end of year performance.

Orientation begins on Monday September 26, 2011.  Monolugues/auditions begin on October 4th after school and run until all have auditioned. Drama meets every Monday from 2:35 - 3:35 pm. All sessions meet in the auditorium. Once students have been casted, they are responsible for purchasing their own costumes if our costume consultant cannot provide one that is suitable. Otherwise, this program is free!

Beginning in January rehearsals which are all mandatory, will meet on both Mondays and Thursdays. During the week of April 30-May 4, 2012, we meet daily in preparation for show time. (See below for schedule).  This year's performance is "Romeo Loves Juliet." (Click on the link below for a sneak preview). Date and time of performance is Friday May 4, 2012 at 7pm sharp in the BMS auditorium. Please plan accordingly. A $3.00 donation will be accepted at the door to cover royalties.  Children under 10 years of age, are free.

Please scroll down for a preview of past performances. For more information about this program, please contact Ms. Ayala at the  Barrington Middle School (401-247-3160), or click on the dance icon below to e-mail me.
