What is New at BMS!

(note: the following information is new)

Message from Mr. LeFaiver:

To The Barrington Middle School Families,

I want to take this opportunity to let you all know that next school year I will be returning to the classroom. In my current position and as a teacher at Barrington High School I always believed and preached that teaching is the greatest profession in the world. I am forever grateful to Dr. Anderson for giving me the opportunity to join the Barrington Middle School Learning Community as assistant principal. This role has allowed me to gain such valuable experience and knowledge from working with a leadership team and a school faculty whose one common mission is to empower all students to excel. I am thankful for the opportunity to work with families and stakeholders to best support our students. I have thoroughly enjoyed connecting with our students and seeing them shine in the classroom, on stage, in the arts, in their sporting events, and wherever else they were showing the community all of their great work. It is because of this experience that I believe I will be a stronger educator. I am beyond excited to return to the classroom but I am forever appreciative for my time as Assistant Principal at Barrington Middle School.

Sincerely,

Elliott LeFaiver

Geography Bee!

Congratulations to Latham Van Hull for winning the BMS Geography Bee! This past week, students had an opportunity to watch a riveting BMS Geo Bee that went a historic 10 rounds. Congratulations to all finalists.

This past Friday, our BMS PTO sent raffle tickets home with all students (6th, 7th, 8th) to help support/fundraise for the 8th Grade Class Trip. The 8th-grade class trip to Washington, DC, has a fundraising goal of $10,000. To enter the raffle, families are encouraged to sell each raffle ticket for $20.00. Completed raffle tickets will be entered for a chance to win 3 cash prizes.

  • 1st Prize: $1,000

  • 2nd Prize: $500

  • 3rd Prize: $250

Thank you in advance for supporting this exciting experience for our 8th grade. We hope to continue this longstanding tradition for our current 6th and 7th graders!

BMS History Day:

A huge shout out and congratulations to Ally Green, Ben Spencer, Juli Danko, Olli Taub, and Christian Smith for their hard work and participation in History Day. They chose a topic related to "Frontiers in History: People, Places, Ideas," used primary and secondary sources, and created a website, documentary, and an exhibit, respectively. They presented their written work and project with students from all over the state at Toll Gate HIgh School, on Saturday. Also, a big thank you goes to Mrs. Roy for her collaboration and support during the project.

The first week will be all grade levels and then moving forward the groups will be separated by grade-level. There will be a new sign-up sheet in the Connected Newsletter each week so keep an eye out for that. Please reach out to Riley Spillane (spillaner@barringtonschools.org) with any questions.
