BMS Spotlight on Learning!

This week, we would like to shine our BMS Spotlight on Mrs. Stephanie Nary. If you've been fortunate enough to have a truly wonderful guidance counselor, then you know it can be life-changing. Stephanie Nary's care and commitment to her students is nothing short of tremendous. She is steps ahead when it comes to meeting the emotional, social, and educational needs of students. (Nominated by a BMS Parent)

This week, we would like to shine our BMS Spotlight on Mr. Peter Blasi. Peter Blasi is a joy to work with! Every day he comes in with a positive attitude, a funny "dad" joke and goes out of his way to connect with colleagues and students. He is thoughtful, kind and reflective in his interactions. I often observe him coaching students on being their best selves...In his words, "Be a shark, not a minnow!" Mr. Blasi truly gives the best of himself to our BMS Learning Community on a daily basis. I feel grateful to have him as a colleague! (Nominated by a BMS Faculty/Staff)

This week, we would like to shine our BMS Spotlight on Mrs. Melanie Roy. Mrs. Roy is an amazing librarian who makes the library a safe and special place for all students. She deserves to be spotlighted for her amazing work. (Nominated by a BMS Student)

Do you know of a BMS Faculty/Staff/Student member that is shining bright? If you do, please complete the form below and we can include the nomination in an upcoming newsletter.

BMS Spotlight Nomination

Student Proficiency Data:

Beginning on Monday, November 1, 2021, families will be able to see their child’s beginning of the year proficiency data in aspen under the assessment tab. It is important to note that these scores are measuring year-end priority standards for their grade level. For example, the 6th-grade math proficiency data is measuring all of the priority standards that would be taught over the course of the school year. Please note that grade 8 math proficiency scores measure the grade 8 standards regardless of course.  Algebra 1 students take a different Algebra proficiency at the mid and end of year.  As the year progresses, this score should increase/improve. Proficiency scores do not impact student’s averages and are not in Canvas.  Our teachers use this data to inform instructional decisions and support. Students will be taking these assessments during the fall, winter, and spring.
