We hope everyone had a relaxing weekend! Last week we had an amazing week. Our hallways and classrooms were filled with smiles, laughter, and enthused students and teachers. The 2022 - 2023 school year is shaping up to be a great year!

This year, we would like to celebrate and recognize the various languages spoken at Barrington Middle School. If you would like to include the language spoken in your home, please complete the following link.

BMS Garden:

Student and parent volunteers are needed. Please sign up here. 

All Things GREEN:

There is an informational meeting this Wednesday, Sept 7, 8:20am, for any student interested in the garden, composting, working at Barrington Farm School, or the Environment Club. Email if you cannot make it.

PTO Corner: 

Welcome to the new school year from the BMS PTO! We are excited for the new year and a return to many of the events and activities that have been missed over the past couple of years. Here are a few PTO updates to start off the year:

  • Join the PTO: Become a member of the BMS PTO for $20 through our BMS online store. Proceeds go directly to the school and PTO programs and membership is required to vote at PTO meetings.

  • Volunteers needed: We are in great need of volunteers for the board (President, Recording Secretary, Corresponding Secretary) and committees (Book Fair, Hospitality, Fundraising, One Amazing Night, Variety Show, 8th Grade Celebration). Please e-mail if interested or with any questions with no pressure to commit.

  • Join us for our 1st PTO meeting of the year Tuesday 10/4 7-8 pm: There will be a BCI check-in from 6-6:30 and new volunteer orientation 6:30-7 prior to the meeting. We will vote on the new board and budget as well as give an overview of what's to come for the school year. The meeting will be in-person with an option to join via zoom as well. 

BMS Robotics:

BMS FIRST Lego League is holding informational meetings for students who may be interested in trying out for the BMS team.  Please see the meeting schedule below if you are interested in finding out more information.  Meetings are held in the 6th grade breakout space.

Chromebook Insurance:

If you are interested in purchasing optional insurance for your student’s Chromebook, please click here for more information.  There are options for purchasing insurance for one, two or three years. Deadline for ordering is September 24, 2022 for purchasing. 

Early Pick-Up Reminders: 

Notes or emails to are needed every time you need to dismiss your student prior to the end of school.  Middle School level students are not allowed to bike home, even with permission by note.  ID and a physical presence is required to dismiss your student early.  Please click here for full details about dismissing your student early from school.

BMS Picture Day:

Picture day will be Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at BMS.  Coffee Pond will be our photographers this year.  Click here for ordering information.

BMS Spotlight on Learning: 

This week, we would like to shine our BMS spotlight on the amazing STEP Intensive team of Abby Halnon, Abby Scott, Sushma Mottana, and Manny Canario. You all work so awesome as a team and do a tremendous job with your students! I love coming into the classroom and seeing all the great work the students are doing and how engaging they are. Their progress is a testament to all of your hard work. Thank you for everything you do for them and for the BMS Learning Community! - Elliott
