BMS Weekly Schedule
Week of January 29, 2023
What is New at BMS!
(note: the following information is new)
For planning purposes, the window for Survey Works will be open from February 6, 2023 - February 17, 2023. Students will be completing this 30 minute survey during the school day. In addition to students completing, families will also have an opportunity to complete a survey. Please stay tuned with more information regarding access to this very important survey.
Seeking Students and Parents to Help with Indoor Planting and Plant Sale:
In February, we will start our "greenhouse" in many of our windows. The young plants will be sold to raise money for the garden and some will be planted in April.
- Students: to help with the planting and watering
- Parents: to help with growing at home and/or the plant sale
No experience necessary:-)
Please email Ms. Texeira firstname.lastname@example.org
Seeking Donations of Seed-Starter Mix:
Students will be planting in February for our indoor "greenhouse." We would greatly appreciate donations of seed starting mix- not potting soil. Bags can be left by the office/cart. Thank you in advance for your support.
BMS Special Education Taskforce Membership:
The BMS Special Education Taskforce is a group of committed members (Administrators, Teachers, and Families) that provides feedback and share perspectives on special education related topics, draw attention to areas of concern, and contribute to solutions that benefit the entire school. This team is seeking membership from parents/caregivers. If you are interested in serving as a member, we encourage you to complete this form by Monday, February 6, 2023.
Community Service Club’s Latest Drive:
The Community Service Club is running a drive from Feb. 1st to Feb. 10 for toiletries and other basic necessities. These can consist of deodorant, hand sanitizers, band aids, lotions, chapsticks, and tissues. It would be most beneficial if these donations could be in travel sizes. All donations can be sent into school and will be collected in the designated classrooms. We truly appreciate all of your donations and your contributions to spread the love this Valentine's Day season!
BMS Science Olympiad Informational Meeting:
Barrington Middle School is pleased to announce that we will be running our Science Olympiad Team this school year. We have partnered with Brown University students to provide this amazing opportunity. We will be having an informational meeting via Zoom on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, from 6:00 pm to 6:30pm for all interested students and families. This will be a required meeting for those wishing to participate as important logistical information will be shared.
BPS Gun Safety Message:
We would like to take this opportunity to remind families of the importance of firearm safety and gun storage. Evidence strongly suggests that secure firearm storage is essential to any effective strategy to keep schools and students safe. Research also shows that secure firearm storage practices are associated with up to an 85 percent reduction in the risk of unintentional firearm injuries among children and teens. Barrington Public Schools is committed to providing a safe and secure learning environment for all students and urges families to read the linked information regarding firearm safety and storage so that we may partner in keeping our community safe. https://www.healthychildren.org/English/safety-prevention/at-home/Pages/Handguns-in-the-Home.aspx

Welcome to the new school year from the BMS PTO! We are excited for the new year and a return to many of the events and activities that have been missed over the past couple of years. Here are a few PTO updates to start off the year:
BMS Spotlight on Learning
Let’s Celebrate our Amazing Learning Community!
(note: below you will find our standing/weekly BMS Spotlight on Learning)
This week we would like to shine our BMS Spotlight on Mrs. Bienkiewicz and our BMS Band! This past Thursday, the BMS Band, under the direction of Mrs. B, played to a packed house! All of the performance groups sounded amazing! Great work Mrs. B and our super talented BMS students!
This week we would like to shine our BMS Spotlight on our BMS Robotics Team, “Team Gold.” This past weekend, they placed first in our State competition, and have the opportunity to move on and compete at the International competition in Arkansas! Congrats to the coaches and team members! Our entire BMS Learning Community is proud of your recent accomplishment!
Bilingual Book Drive:
Do you have any bilingual books at home that you can donate? Nayatt School is hosting a bilingual book drive to support multilingual learners from January 30 through February 10, 2023. All languages and grade levels are appreciated! Donation boxes are located outside of the offices of all BPS schools.
