🏀BHS GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM WINS DIVISION I CHAMPIONSHIP: Congratulations to the Barrington High School girls basketball team for winning the Rhode Island Interscholastic League's Divisional Basketball Championship game last night! Way to go, Eagles and Coach Lenz, Coach Burns, and Coach Munzert! 📚NAYATT SCHOOL WELCOMES AUTHOR MARC COLAGIOVANNI: Yesterday was an exciting day to be a Nayatt School student! Rhode Island author Marc Colagiovanni visited Nayatt while in Barrington for launch day of his new picture book, The Reflection in Me. He read both of his books, answered students' questions, and shared the importance of optimism, persistence, and self-love!🖍

🎹🏰 MUSIC IN OUR SCHOOLS MONTH: BHS MUSIC DEPARTMENT GOES TO DISNEY! March is Music in Our Schools Month and, this week, members of our Barrington High School Music Department showcased the importance of music education at Walt Disney World! Student musicians and singers had the opportunity to visit Disney's Imagination Campus, perform in Disney Springs, and participate in workshops with Disney conductors. Way to go, BHS Music Department!

🏆🏊‍♀️BHS GIRLS SWIM TEAM WINS STATE CHAMPIONSHIP: It's been a decade of winning for our Barrington High School girls swim team! For the tenth consecutive year, the girls swim team outscored their competition to become Rhode Island Interscholastic League's Swimming State Champions! 🚣‍♀️🚣 ROWING MAKES MORNINGS AT BMS EXTRA"OAR"DINARY: Students at Barrington Middle School have been beginning their days with early morning rowing sessions as part of the school's before-school enrichment program led by East Bay Rowing! Barrington Education Foundation grants helped fund 6 rowing machines at BMS and WaterRower of Warren donated an additional 10 machines for this program.

🥫HMS SOUPERBOWL COLLECTS DONATIONS FOR TAP IN: The Hampden Meadows Elementary School SOUPerbowl, a school-wide donation drive organized by the HMS Student Council, collected 1,019 cans of soup for TAPIN! Student Council members helped shelve, sort, and weigh the donations they delivered to Tap-In. They also received a tour of the food pantry to better understand how Tap-In helps address food insecurity in the East Bay. Thank you to the Hampden Meadows community, especially Student Council and Miss O'Neil, for making such a difference right here in Barrington!

🐋 BMS WINS WYLAND FOUNDATION NATIONAL MURAL COMPETITION: This month, a mural designed by Barrington Middle School eighth graders won first place in the middle school division of the Wyland Foundation's National Art and Classroom Mural Challenge! The Art Challenge is one of the top environmental art competitions for youth. This year's theme is environmental and water conservation, a topic that hits home for Rhode Islanders. Barrington Middle School's winning mural highlights the important message of whale conservation and protection. Working together on this mural challenged students to be collaborative, flexible, and creative. 🦋🏀QUARTERFINALS GAMES DEDICATED TO MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS: It was a quarterfinals double header for Barrington High School's varsity basketball teams last night and the Birdcage came out in full force to support! Last night's games were dedicated to Morgan's Message, a student organization that strives to eliminate the stigma surrounding mental health within the student-athlete community. Congratulations to both teams on their impressive records this season! Following their win last night, the girls basketball team will face La Salle Academy in a Division I play off game on Sunday, March 3. The boys basketball team ended their regular season 21-2 and will play in the Open Tournament in March.

🏮 HMS LANGUAGE CLUB BUILDS CULTURAL CONFIDENCE: Language Club is helping Hampden Meadows Elementary School students develop cultural competence through family and community involvement! Before February break, students had the opportunity to hear from parent guest speakers about their experiences learning English. They also learned more about the Lunar New Year and participated in a lantern-making activity! 🧧

🎒 CELEBRATING CTE MONTH: Did you know that February is Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month? CTE provides students with opportunities to explore different career fields of interest while earning industry-specific credentials and prepares students for the world of work by introducing them to workplace competencies in a real-world, applied context. Barrington High School offers certification and experiential pathways for students to engage in career and technical education in areas like STEM, arts & humanities, media, and business.

This deep learning activity transformed students into junior architects and construction workers applying knowledge about area to create the house of their dreams. Students learned that math - area, in particular - is an important part of our everyday lives and even had the opportunity to discuss different careers, like construction, that use math on a regular basis. Thanks, Mrs. Adamson, for making this unit a "blast"! 🦺

🦅 STUDENT ATHLETES COMPETE AT STATE AND DIVISIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS: Our Barrington High School Eagles were been busy competing at Rhode Island Interscholastic League state and divisional championship meets on Saturday! The girls indoor track team finished seventh in their respective state championship meets, while the boys and girls swimming teams both achieved high scores in the divisional championship. 🎖BHS BOYS INDOOR TRACK ARE STATE CHAMPS: On Saturday, February 17, the Barrington High School boys indoor track team ended a very strong winter season by becoming the Rhode Island Interscholastic League's Indoor Track & Field State Champions! This is the first state championship title ever for a BHS boys track team. Congratulations to our student athletes whose dedication and commitment, combined with many hours of hard work, made history for BHS boys track! Thank you to the supportive families, mentors, and coaches - especially Coach Barrass, Coach Katz, and Coach McFetters - who enable our students to pursue their passions and be the best they can be. 🎭 UNIFIED THEATER SHOWCASES TALENT AND INCLUSION: Unified Theater is an inclusive student organization that dissolves typical barriers between youth through transformative, school-based performing arts. Members of Barrington High School's Unified Theater club have spent many hours together writing, editing, blocking, directing, and practicing this school year. On Friday, February 9, BHS Unified Theater performed their student-led and student-written production of Teenage Dream: TV, featuring scenes from classic teenage television shows and movies, to an excited audience! 🏒BHS ALUMNI APPRECIATION NIGHT: Once an Eagle, always an Eagle! More than 40 alumni of the Barrington High School hockey team were in attendance for the hockey team's Alumni Appreciation Night celebration and the fiftieth year of varsity hockey at BHS. Alumni are an important part of the BHS hockey program. Each year, generous alumni donations help fund the Lt. Jeffrey R. Scharver USMC Award, the Patrick Cannon Memorial Award, the John Hall Memorial Scholarship Award, and the Scott H. Andrews Memorial Scholarship. Alumni donations also help support some costs associated with Barrington High School's robust hockey program.

🦖DINOSAURS ROCK VISITS BPS: Second graders across our district have been building their literacy and science skills while learning about fossils and paleontology. This week, they went on a Jurassic journey with DINOSAURS ROCK! Thank you to our Primrose Hill School, Nayatt School, and Sowams School PTOs for bringing this prehistoric presentation to Barrington! 🦕

🥇BHS BOYS INDOOR TRACK WINS DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP: Barrington High School boys indoor track team won five events overall at the Metropolitan Division Championship this week, making them Rhode Island Interscholastic League division champs! Congratulations to all members of the boys indoor track team for this hard-earned accomplishment! Special congrats to student athletes Joe, Brandon, Myles, Ethan, Daniel, Brooks, Marius, and Henry for placing first in their events.
